I, Vic Roberts, a retired coal miner, am seeking the Illinois Democratic Party’s nomination for the U.S. Senate because of my deep and abiding belief that we laboring class people are in desperate need of more and better representation in Washington, D.C., a measure of representation I, Vic Roberts, can and will provide, if elected to the Senate.

The statute of the coal miner in the picture has special meaning to me, because my dad, my six brothers, myself and my three sons have all been underground coal miners. I wear my coal miner’s hat, while campaigning for public office, as a symbol of the everyday way of life of the laboring class people. My every thought, my every action has been shaped and molded by the laboring class people; this is who I am, this is what I am. If elected to the US Senate, I, Vic Roberts, can and will best represent the laboring class people because I am one too. When I represent the laboring class people I represent my family, my friends, my neighbors, as well as myself.

I, Vic Roberts, am a card carrying member of the United Mine Workers of America union, as I have been for around a quarter of a century. About one-third of my retirement income is coming from my UMWA pension. I have been a member of six unions; three of which I was a union official. I have been a Local Vice President in the Progressive Mine Workers of America union, a Local and District contract negotiator for the American Federation of Government Employees union, and a Local 9819 Vice President in the United Mine Workers of America union. I am presently a UMWA Local 9819 COMPAC committeeman, and a representative to the Christian County Chapter of the Springfield(IL) Trades and Labor Council.

I believe the development of labor unions is a great blessing for us laboring class people, and organized labor is the voice for, and the political arm in government for all laboring class people, union and non union alike.

I believe that labor unions are democracy in action because they are groups of employees
who unite and organize for the purpose of trying to control some of the abuse of power by their employer, and to try to gain a more equitable share of the profits their labor has provided for their employer. These goals are reasonable, honorable, fair and right for without labor first capital would not exist, and without labor capital would soon meet with it’s demise.

If elected to the US Senate, I, Vic Roberts, will work diligently to further the cause of labor unions. I would search for a way to drive a stake through the heart of the heinous vampire scab labor promoting Taft-Hartley Act, which is legislation that has turned our Federal government into a giant Dracula that victimizes labor unions. As the nefarious villainous vampire Taft-Hartley Act quietly sucks the lifeblood out of our nation’s labor unions it is also slowly, but surly, draining the lifeblood from all of us American laboring class people as well. This I, Vic Roberts, pledge to the American laboring class people, "As a US Senator, I will try to find a way to destroy one of labor’s greatest enemies, the nefarious villainous vampire scab labor promoting legislation known as the Taft-Hartley Act, so that our nation’s labor unions can once again flourish, and we laboring class people can turn the myth of the “American Dream” into a reality.”

Because of the many New World Order controlled Washington puppet politician’s corporate subsidies and free trade policies there is a shortage of good paying American jobs, most of which are being sent to virtual slave labor countries. Also, many Washington puppet politicians are virtually ignoring corporate practices such as recruitment of undocumented illegal aliens, a widespread practice that was documented several years ago. Companies recruit illegal aliens at low wages, and then expect communities to absorb the social and fiscal consequences for the sake of their profits. This has been good for the elite financial royalists Wall Street bankers, global financiers and industrialists of the global financial Mafia, the New World Order, those evil empire Imperial Gods of the Global Economy, but disastrous for us American laboring class people, small business operators and family farmers, yes, we of the American struggling masses.

Industrialists looking for skilled but cheap workers ordered their campaign contribution
bought and controlled Washington puppet politicians to pass legislation known as H-1B, which allows more foreign (of the industrialists choice) workers into the US to replace our workers under a State Dept. “diversity” program; along with a “green card lottery” program. These programs are separate and in addition to the Immigration and Naturalization Department’s (INS) tragic immigration quota’s of near a million legal immigrants annually; tens of thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands, of immigrants are entering the US illegally also (For more detailed information concerning the immigration issue please visit my web page on Immigration).

The H-1B visa program allow in foreigners with college degrees and/or relevant work experience to work in the US. As a result many American professionals have been displaced by cheaper foreign workers; for example, a reported 49% of Ph.D’s in computer science in 1993 was foreigners; that percentage is likely to rise dramatically due to the Washington puppet politicians higher visa quotas for H-1B immigrants; not to mention the fact that the INS has issued thousands of H-1B visas in excess of legal quotas, due to “so-called” computer glitch. The entire year’s quota of 115,000 H-1B visas was filled in the first 3 months of 2000. The INS received over 342,000 applications for H-1B visas between Oct.1, 2000 and Sept.30, 2001. A Washington report on April 17, 2000 indicated there is presently more than 420,000 H-1B workers employed in the United States; the population is expected to peak at 710,000 in 2002. Incidentally, in the fall of 2001 nearly 660,000 foreign nationals held student visas in the United States. Not only are those students making it more difficult for our students to enroll in schools of their choice, but many of those foreign students become H-1B workers in the US as well.

When the economy is strong those employing H-1B visa workers claim they need to hire them because their needs cannot be met with native employees, and then, in a weak economy they demand H-1B visa workers because they are less expensive to employ. H-1B employers received approval to hire 163,200 foreign workers during a year in which US companies laid-off more than 520,000 hi-tech workers. Meanwhile the use of the H-1B visa immigrant worker importation continues, depression or not, and at a time when corporations are moving massive numbers of jobs, hi-tech jobs included, overseas. For instances, General Electric operates a center in India with more than 10,000 programmers. One US company had openings for 600 software developers which resulted in applications coming in from around 10,000 perspective technicians, at one point they were receiving 500 resumes a day; at the same time US companies was importing up to 195,000 H-1B visa workers. Incidentally, in blatant defiance of a Congressional mandate, the INS is not requiring laid-off H-1B visa workers to return to their country of origin. Thus leaving unemployed H-1B visa workers in the US to drive down wages and work conditions in a disappearing job market. In Jan. of 2002 alone there was 390,000 new unemployment claims filed in the US, and another 483,000 in April. Incidentally and indecently, over 60% of American workers are not even covered by unemployment compensation benefits.

While hiring talented workers at low wages is the main inducement for big corporations to
hire foreign workers, there is also the “indentured servant” attraction. If an H-1B worker quits or gets fired the worker loses their visa and are to return to their country of origin. If they quit, the company can sue the workers for the salary they earned and monetary costs associated with the workers resignation. This makes the foreign workers very docile when the company places abusive demands on them. Along with the severe punishment threat to keep their foreign workers subdued, the employer can also beguile them with the possibility they will get them “Permanent Labor Certification” from the Dept. of Labor. The “Labor Certification” procedure takes nearly 5 years to complete, which means the system will likely be producing tens of thousands of visa overstays annually. With the “Labor Certification” the foreign national can petition for permanent residency and eventual US citizenship. Thanks to the Washington puppet politicians, the industrialists have some powerful motivational tools to keep the foreign H-1B workers subjugated.

With the help of their Washington puppet politicians, New World Order controlled corporations have been recruiting tens of thousands of workers from around the world. As a result too many workers are chasing too few good paying jobs; this in turn helps to force down wages in many fields, hold wage increases down in others and contributes to the overall decline in the standard of living for many.

The recruiting of foreign workers goes beyond US businesses, many so-called religious groups are also taking advantage of the Washington puppet politician’s heinous immigration policies by bringing in low wage immigrants under a special green card visa program, commonly known as the religious worker visa program. The religious worker visa program allows additional thousands of immigrants into the US easily, and legally.

Individuals, mostly affluent people, also bring in workers from other countries to perform domestic tasks they say no American is willing to do FOR THE WAGES OFFERED. The Washington puppet politicians are permitting us American laboring class people to be given an ultimatum by their wealthy puppet masters of the New World Order: ACCEPT OUR OFFER OR WE WILL BRING IN FOREIGN WORKERS WHO WILL, this is in a job market where already half the available jobs do no pay a living wage.

The demand for foreign labor has become so great that employment agents have set up job shops supplying foreign labor to US employers. The agents secure visas and arrange jobs for thousands from abroad each year. Not only are US corporations bringing in foreign workers, they are also eliminating American jobs by shipping their tasks overseas using high-speed satellite links, as well as using prison inmates in manufacturing here in the United States. With a “no” vote on Roll Call 0456 of HR Bill 3736 Congress voted down an amendment that would require all H-1B employers to promise not to replace American workers with foreign workers. Recently a bill was passed increasing the number of H-1B visas to 195,000 annually for the next 3 years, with little job protection for American workers; the cowardly Washington puppet politicians passed the bill with a voice vote so that we laboring class people could not know which ones are the puppet politicians to hold accountable on election day.

In 1990 Congress nearly tripled the number of visas distributed on the basis of skills. In Silicon Valley alone there are 12,000 engineers of Chinese decent. If America needs higher educational levels and more skills I, Vic Roberts, say our government should be searching for ways and means of filling those needs without bringing in foreign competitors.

With a “yes” vote on HR Bill 1469, Congress voted to reduce funding for the Jobs Opportunity and Basic Skills (JOBS) program by $240 million.

New World Order controlled Washington puppet politicians, along with their 195,000 annual H-1B immigrant worker visa program, have reinforced their manipulated legal US immigration invasion with another heinous legal maneuver against us American laboring class people; that nefarious maneuver is the H-2A immigrant worker visa program which encourages an additional 43,000 (annually) so-called “guest workers” into the US easily and legally. In reality the Washington puppet politicians are encouraging employers to increasingly use H-2A visa immigrants to permanently replace American workers. The H-2A visa legislation is a legal immigration invasion tactic that effectively circumvents the free market for US labor by importing Third World labor. Instead of raising hourly wages and improved work conditions to attract US workers many H-2A employers have actually devised effective schemes to ward off domestic workers.

The H-2A visa program is a legal smuggling conduit for illegal aliens into the United States; a reported 40% of the H-2A visa immigrant workers simply leave their sponsoring employer and become just another typical illegal immigrant in the US Naturally, the Washington puppet politicians place little responsibility or accountability on the employer for this mass importation of illegal immigrants. Instead of being held responsible and accountable the H-2A employers are encouraged to import more Third World immigrants; thus another 40% can become illegal immigrants also. Studies of the H-2A immigration importation visa program concludes that there is actually a surplus of agriculture labor, not a shortage requiring importation of Third World H-2A visa immigrant workers.

Instead of the New World Order controlled Washington puppet politicians eliminating the grievous H-2A legal immigrant importation of Third World workers they are in the process of passing their “Agriculture Opportunities Act,” an Act which will create a new legal invasion of immigrant workers; this new legal immigrant invasion visa program is called H-2C. The H-2C visa program encourages up to a million new immigrant farm workers into the US annually. The New World Order controlled Washington puppet politician’s H-2C legislation adds insult to injury to us American laboring class people, not only does it encourage lower wages and poorer work conditions for our labor but we taxpayers are also obligated to provide housing subsidies for the immigrant worker invaders through vouchers; vouchers which are not provided for our own US workers; vouchers which is another New World Order maneuver and manipulation used to provide US tax dollars to further their cause at the expense of us of the American struggling masses.

The Washington puppet politicians tragic immigration laws are continuing the loss of job opportunities for US workers while also encouraging ever lower wages and a greater loss of benefits as well.

President Bush has proposed slashing the federal unemployment tax on employers from around $56 per worker per year to $14. The money generated goes to pay the federal share of extended unemployment benefits. The federal money also pays for states to administer the unemployment system. After five years the Bush proposal would cut out the money altogether and states would have to fully finance their unemployment benefits themselves. Business, at the expense of labor, is getting $36 billion out of the package.

There is presently support building for a New World Order advocated amnesty program for up to 11 million, and rapidly rising number, illegal alien workers in the US. They also want to nullify the requirement that employers hire only documented immigrants. Although those actions may give some unions a little more opportunity to organize, it will give the industrialists, Wall Street bankers and global financiers of the New World Order far more opportunity to use their, campaign contribution legally bought and controlled, scab labor promoting politicians to destroy those unions. Many of those scab labor promoting politicians are already using immigrants, even though they are undocumented illegal aliens, to help destroy unions. This was demonstrated by the documented case of the New York Suffolk County Executive who worked behind closed doors to establish hiring halls and meeting places for undocumented illegal aliens in Farmingville, N.Y. This type of immigrant use in union busting will be far worse if the immigrants are not illegal and there is no requirement to hire only documented workers.

Instead of using our laboring people’s tax dollars to provide hiring halls for illegal aliens,
who will be replacing high taxpayer labor with low taxpayer labor, that tax money should be used to deport the illegal aliens, and used to fight against their overwhelming illegal invasion into the United States. Amnesty would only encourage potential illegal aliens to become more aggressive and determined to enter the US; thus creating even more illegal aliens to deal with. Also, how much worse will the illegal alien invasion become when the Mexican economy falters, as some highly respected economists are predicting.

If you have financial hardship come into your life, the New World Order controlled Washington puppet politicians have passed a new bankruptcy law to greet you with; this legislation makes it even more difficult, for us of the American struggling masses, to remove the burden of heavy debt when financial misfortune comes into our lives. Meanwhile, the Washington puppet politicians were also passing a $1.3 trillion tax cut plan, a plan with most tax cuts going to those who already have available to them a multitude of tax loopholes and shelters, the wealthiest taxpayers.

Along with many other anti-labor laws, the New World Order controlled Washington puppet politicians have created the “Overseas Private Investment Corporation,” which is an agency that helps US based (New World Order controlled) multinational corporations do business in virtual slave labor Third World areas. The Overseas Private Investment Corporation is another method of our tax money subsidizing the New World Order in their union busting tactics.

I, Vic Roberts, put worker’s welfare ahead of corporate profit dollars. Corporate profit dollars brings to my mind the information that the average Chief Executive Officer made 419 times, an increase of 535% in the 1990s, over what the average blue collar worker is paid. Today the average major US corporate C.E.O. is reportedly paid $36.5 million a year, doubling what it was in 1995. In 2000 one CEO reportedly received an obscene $775 million in compensation.

CEO pay extravagance is made all the easier because corporations are allowed to deduct those gross paychecks from their taxable income. I , Vic Roberts, say, "If the corporate stockholders want to pay those obscene salaries that is their affair, but it becomes our affair also when those corporations subsidize those astronomical CEO salaries with tax dollars.”
