GREEN PARTY
There are those who question why former Democratic Party congressional candidate Vic Roberts is now a Green Party candidate for Congress. The answer is: Because I believe the IL Green Party encompasses and personifies my political ideology and goals far better than today's Democratic Party; i.e. , I believe the IL Green Party's core values are based on the common good for our citizens and the general welfare of our nation. Also, it is my goal to give the voters who feel "ENOUGH is ENOUGH," those who want REAL CHANGE in Congress, an alternative candidate and political party to the monopolistic Republican and Democratic political parties.
I am an IL Green Party candidate because the Green Party is not dominated by politicians who are virtual puppets to the big money interests that get them elected and reelected. Unlike the Republican and Democratic Parties, whose allegiance seems to be for sale to the highest bidder, the IL Green Party safeguards their integrity by refusing corporate and big business contributions. The Green Party and I are dedicated to ending the domination of our government by large corporations and the tiny minority of wealthy individuals who control those corporations; the same corporate aristocracy that have stifled genuine political democracy by using their tremendous wealth and media resources to get their puppet politicians elected and reelected to high public office; thereby creating corporate domination over government that is the root of many of our societal problems.
Incidentally, I, Vic Roberts, believe we of the struggling masses are living under a yoke of bondage in an era that is very similar to living under the rule of royal families, with today's royal families being Wall Street bankers, global financiers and global corporate aristocracy with names such as Rockefeller, Rothschild, Mellon, and Warburg; those whose family dynasties control most of our nation's and much of the world's finance and commerce.
Today there are very few legal obstacles that interfere with corporations exploiting workers, plundering the environment, defrauding or cheating consumers, etc., and even when caught, the corporation cannot be sent to jail or otherwise effectively controlled. I believe it is ludicrous that we citizens cannot control corporate abuse because corporations have been granted legal status superior to us human beings, i.e., legal status of personhood without the responsibilities; also, those same corporations have virtual eternal lives which, through inheritance, further empower corporate controlling aristocratic ruling families; repeal of the estate tax greatly empowers the eternal aristocratic royal dynasty corporate rule scenario.
I, Vic Roberts, am an IL Green party candidate for Congress because the Green Party promotes the interests of those who actually create our society's wealth, the laboring class people. In recent years the Republican and Democratic Parties have severally cut government programs that were beneficial to the laboring class people, while preserving when not escalating wasteful subsidies for corporations and a bloated military-industrial complex; the same corporations that are exploiting our people and ruining our environment.
I am an IL Green Party candidate because their platform states: "The Illinois Green Party is dedicated, first and foremost, to the goal of empowering working people. The objective of empowering workers also means vigorously supporting workers' right to organize, and a living wage for their labor. At the national level, we call for the repeal of the Taft/Hartley Act and similar measures that will make it easier for workers to organize without interference from their employers and to bargain with employers effectively. We support fair trade policies that aim to lift labor standards around the globe, not so-called "free trade" policies that undermine both labor and environmental standards at home and abroad, and that undermine national sovereignty in favor of global corporate dominated bodies like the World Trade Organization."
I am an IL Green Party candidate because of my overwhelming belief that we laboring class people are in desperate need of more and better representation in Congress, and that, if elected, I, Vic Roberts, can and will provide some of that much needed representation; representation that will work to repeal such treacherous and traitorous, for us laboring class people, legislation as the Taft/Hartley Act, N.A.F.T.A., C.A.F.T.A., and the Permanent Normal Trade Relations Status with China legislation, all of which is a yoke of bondage placed upon us laboring class people by both Republican and Democratic Party leadership; those whose alliance seems to belong to the highest bidder, with the highest bidder usually being Wall Street bankers, global financiers, and global corporate aristocracy.
I, Vic Roberts, am an IL Green Party candidate because we agree that the U.S. military's invasion and occupation of Iraq was a catastrophic wrong from the start. We believe our nation's military should be involved in defensive actions only. Also, we agree that the USA Patriot Act should be repealed because it is legislation that is far more bad than good. We agree on the need for a massive scale renewal and further development of our nation's infrastructure; infrastructure such as: Public transportation, highways, waterways, and power plants.
We agree that replacing our nation's present capitalistic financed electoral system with a "CLEAN MONEY" public financed electoral system, along with more media access for candidates, and public information services for voters are high priority issues.
We agree that removing the current cap on Social Security taxes will help to ensure the stability of the Social Security System, and we reject privatization of the system.
We agree that promoting energy conservation while working toward energy independence through further research and development of renewable energy sources is a high priority issue because our nation's dependence on fossil and nuclear fuel seriously threatens our environment, our health, and our economy.
We support immediate ratification and signing of a Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, and complete honoring of the Non-Proliferation Treaty and other treaties banning or limiting research, development, testing, or deployment of any nuclear weapons.
I, Vic Roberts, agree with the Green Party's devotion to the ecological wisdom of protecting the long-term environmental health and sustainability of our earth and stratosphere. We believe human societies must operate with the understanding that we are part of nature; therefore, we must practice agriculture which replenishes the soil; move to an energy efficient economy; and live in ways that respect the integrity of natural systems in such a way that future generations will benefit and not suffer from the practices of our generation.
I totally agree with the Green Party's goal to rapidly establish an ecologically based agriculture system that moves toward self-reliance that will regenerate the soil. We agree that America needs to change farm programs and fiscal policies that presently place small and family farms in a disadvantaged position compared with that of large and corporate farms.
The Green Party and I agree that most citizens believe in paying their fair share of taxes; however, most so-called tax reforms give huge breaks to large corporations and wealthy individuals, with little or no relief for lower or middle-income people; therefore, we support a more progressive tax system. First, we call for a strict review of all corporate tax breaks and subsidies believing that it is time we made the wealthiest section of society to carry a more equitable share of the burden of funding our government.
The Green Party and I oppose corporate involvement or influence in our school and educational system. We oppose the present practice of pushing unsafe corporate products for sale in our schools, products such as Coke and Pepsi machines that are being installed in school buildings as a condition for corporate donations. We recognize that this problem is worsened by inadequate public funding for schools. We believe we cannot achieve success in education without addressing many needs of our people and our environment, and without re-examining our national and local priorities, including the way our government funds are spent; we need to use our nation's resources for our people and our environment, not to fuel the present policies favoring military and corporate aggression for the benefit of an elite few, which is the hallmark of our present political and social regime. At the same time many government officials are proclaiming we do not have adequate funds for education and public welfare they are squandering most of our tax money on the military and on subsidies for "corporate welfare," as well as huge tax breaks for the already super wealthy. Shifting our nation's resources to education, health and basic social services is an enormous personal and Green Party priority.
The Green Party and I agree that being "tough" on crime means attacking the causes of crime, focusing on crimes that truly harm society, and focusing on turning offenders into productive, law-abiding citizens when possible. Also, we agree it is grievously unjust to allow private enterprise to exploit prison labor, a policy that eliminates real jobs from our communities, while undermining unions and the wage standards for all workers.
The Green Party and I agree that free access to information is necessary in order for citizens to make meaningful decisions; therefore, we support the continuation and growth of independent, non-corporate media.
I am an IL Green Party candidate for congress because I believe promoting the Illinois Green Party is promoting a political party that is working toward a healthy economy, with fulfilling and rewarding jobs for all who need them. I believe the Green Party is working toward empowering people and protecting our environment and it is working toward putting human needs before profit dollars, and it is also working toward making our government an instrument that serves the interests of the many, not just the wealthy few.
I am a Green Party candidate because I believe the creed of the founding leadership is very well described in the words of President Theodore Roosevelt when he said: It is not the critic who countsŠthe credit belongs to those in the arena who strives valiantly...who errs, and comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcomingŠwho spends themselves in a worthy cause; who best knows in the end triumph of high achievement, and who at worst fails while daring greatly.
I, Vic Roberts am an IL Green Party candidate for Congress because I believe the Green Party is a modern reincarnation of the political spirit and principle that William Jennings Bryan personified in his 1896 "Cross of Gold" speech. Also, I believe we are confronting a modern version of some of the political issues that Bryan addressed in his speech. Accordingly, I am presenting the following slightly modified excerpts from Bryan's "Cross of Gold":
"We say in our platform that we believe that the right to coin money and issue money is a function of government; we believe it is part of sovereignty. Those who are opposed to this proposition tell us that the issue of paper money is the function of the bank and that government ought to go out of the banking business. I stand with Jefferson rather than with them, and tell them, as he did, that the issue of money is the function of government and that the banks ought to go out of the governing business. Now, my friends let me come to the great paramount issue. If they ask us why it is we say more on the money question than we say upon the tariff question, we reply to them that when we have restored the money of the Constitution, all other necessary reforms will be possible, but until that is done there is no reform that can be accomplished, and we say to them: You shall not press down upon the brow of labor this crown of thorns; you shall not crucify mankind upon a cross of gold."

End of excerpts.
Indeed, the words "you shall not press down upon the brow of labor this crown of thorns; you shall not crucify mankind upon a cross of gold" are elegant and powerful words expressing a determination that our nation's monetary system will be controlled, as our nation's Constitution mandates, by our elected Congress rather than being controlled by private bankers. Yes, those are elegant and powerful words used on behalf of a noble cause indeed; but has that noble cause been achieved? Has the money of the Constitution been restored?
With the passage of the Federal Reserve Bank Act in 1913, Wall Street bankers and global financiers gained total control over our nation's currency; this was done in blatant defiance of our nation's Constitution, which mandates that Congress is responsible for "coining and setting the value thereof" of our nation's currency. I, Vic Roberts, fully agree with Bryan's statement "when we have restored the money of the Constitution, all other reforms will be possible, but until that is done there is no reform that can be accomplished." For more information concerning the Federal Reserve Bank Reform issue, please visit my "Federal Reserve Bank Reform" web page.
I, Vic Roberts, believe, on behalf of the common good and general welfare of our citizens and our nation, it is imperative that the Green Party ask each and every U.S. Representative and Senator in Congress why they are forcing us tax payers to wear a crown of financial thorns while we are being crucified upon the Federal Reserve Bank System's cross of gold. Indeed, for the good of ourselves, as well as our nation's children and grand children, we must question: Why is Congress forcing us tax payers to pay mega billions of our tax dollars as interest payments for borrowing our nation's currency, while the U.S. Constitution clearly mandates that "Congress is responsible for coining and setting the value thereof" of our nation's currency? Indeed, why are we tax payers being forced into virtual economic servitude and financial slavery in order for Congress to continue paying tribute to a few elite Wall Street bankers and global financiers, along with a virtual "ROYAL" aristocracy with names such a Rockefeller, Rothschild, Mellon, and Warburg; those who own and control the Federal Reserve Bank System for their own personal profit, power, and pleasure? Indeed, the same financial powers that have stifled genuine political democracy by using their tremendous wealth, power, and media resources to get their puppet politicians elected and reelected to high public office. To be sure, I believe, if the common good and general welfare of our citizens and our nation is to be served, it is imperative that the Green Party demand that Congress answer the question: "Why are we tax payers being forced to pay mega billions of our tax dollars to the Federal Reserve Bank System as interest payments for using their Federal Reserve Bank notes as our nation's currency, while the U.S. Constitution clearly mandates that Congress is responsible for "coining and setting the value thereof" of our nation's currency?"
Your support for Vic Roberts for Congress and the IL Green Party will be deeply and sincerely appreciated. In the words of a great lady, Mother Jones: Let us pray for the dead but fight like hell for the living.
