ABORTION
The first time
I was asked about my views on the abortion issue I did not know the answer.
I felt very uncomfortable with that question, so I asked myself, "What
are my views concerning the abortion issue?
The first question to myself was, "What is being aborted, a fetus or a
baby? The answer that came to my mind was, "A fetus is the laws of
nature working in cooperation with female functions, which if undisturbed will
eventually evolve into a baby. Then the question arises, "When has
the fetus evolved into a baby? The answer that came to my mind was, "When
it has developed to the point that it can survive, without an artificial environment,
outside the female womb, then it has evolved into a baby.
Then the question arises, "Does the woman whose body is hosting a fetus
have the right to abort that fetus if she so chooses? The answer that
came to my mind was, "Often the laws of nature and/or female functions,
for whatever reason they may have, aborts a fetus. Therefore, I believe if the
laws of nature and/or female functions have the right to abort a fetus, for
whatever reason that exists, it should also be the right of the woman, for whatever
reason she may have, to abort a fetus that is developing inside her body.
Because of this reasoning, I, Vic Roberts, am deeply committed to the belief
that the decision concerning abortion is one to be made by each individual woman
who is personally involved; a decision that is her right to make without outside
interference, especially without government interference.
